Working With Us

We work for you, not a financial institution. As a privately owned financial planning firm, we stand by the integrity of our advice. We develop long term relationships with our clients, based on trust and transparency. As a client of Direct Advisers you can expect that your best interests will be placed first, every step of the way.

Our Fees

Because Direct Advisers operate on a fee for service basis, we will only provide you with the services you need. Our fees are based on the:

  • complexity of the strategy and advice
  • size and type of investment portfolio
  • number of entities involved
  • administrative support provided
  • number of formal review or strategy meetings that take place
  • type of services provided
  • time taken to provide the services

We will always be upfront and frank with you about our fees.

1. Initial Meeting

This first meeting is really about getting to know each other. We will take the time to understand your individual needs, whether that be basic limited advice or a comprehensive strategic advice service. We will also explain our investment philosophy and methodology in language everyone can understand. If you wish to proceed we will draw up a letter of engagement that outlines the scope of our work together.

2. Financial Needs Analysis

A personal financial needs analysis is undertaken for all clients seeking financial planning advice in order to establish your current financial position and understand your goals and objectives.
Our comprehensive 9 Point Investment Needs Analysis looks at your:

  1. Risk/return profile
  2. Income and expenditure situation
  3. Assets and liabilities
  4. Present investments and strategies
  5. Present strategy with regard to tax effectiveness
  6. Centrelink entitlements (where appropriate)
  7. Superannuation strategy (where appropriate)
  8. Existing estate planning
  9. Insurance and risk protection needs (if required)

3. Statement Of Advice

We will prepare a comprehensive financial plan (Statement of Advice) specific to your situation and goals. We will meet with you to work through the plan together and answer all of your questions. Once you are comfortable with the recommended actions we will ask you to sign to proceed.

4. Implementation

This is where we really take the worry and stress out of the process for you. We work behind the scenes to implement the agreed strategies and actions in a timely and efficient manner, keeping you well informed along the way.

5. Post Implementation Meeting

We will meet with you after 6 weeks to 3 months, to ensure the smooth and successful implementation of your financial plan, and to answer any follow up questions you may have.

6. Ongoing Service

We continue to actively manage your investments and are available to offer ongoing strategic advice, which is tailored to your individual needs. We recommend a 6 to 12 monthly review meeting, depending on the complexity of your situation, to review your entire financial plan including investments and insurance policies and to ensure we remain on track to achieving your goals.
